Employee Coaching is offered to organizations that are committed to employee development to support their employees in job skill development to increase productivity and performance.  This can be offered individually or for an entire group.  Coaching can support employees behavior modification in the workplace, preparing for a new role, and/or adapting to a new workplace environment.

Coaching employees can…

  • Challenge employee belief and mindsets about the work they do
  • Create synergy amongst a team
  • Improve productivity and performance
  • Enhance job satisfaction
  • Build their confidence
  • Help employees achieve personal and professional goals
  • Increase employee retention rates
  • Promote collaboration and teamwork
  • Encourage open communication and build working relationships
  • Enhance critical thinking and problem-solving skills

What does coaching look like in a working environment?

  1. Meeting one-on-one or in a group with “homework assignments” in between meetings.
  2. The use of behavioral and personality assessments to identify blind spots and behaviors that are dominant or lacking to gain self-awareness and these findings may impact and influence work performance, relationships, and productivity.
  3. Support the employee in creating goals aligned with the organization’s vision, create an action plan, and identify barriers and challenges and strategize solutions for when they arise.
  4. Encourage outside resources to support development, such as books, classes, seminars, workshops, mentors, etc..
  5. Support the employee through a caring relationship while encouraging their growth.

Examples of Coaching in the Workplace

Behavior Modification-an employee may have developed habits that are not serving them or the organization well.  For example, if an employee is challenged with communicating effectively, a coach can support better communication habits.  If an employee is challenged with completing tasks on time, a coach can support the employee in time management.

Career Change-if an employee has experienced a career change or is new in a role, a coach can support new skill development reflective of the new role, while building confidence in the employee’s ability to perform well in the new role..

Skill Development-as the way we do business changes, for example, with the increase in telework and the increase in the use of technology, an employee coach can support skill development in this area to increase proficiency in the workplace.

Job Performance-through clarity, awareness, and insight, employee coaching can support an increase in productivity and performance.  By giving employees the tools they need and a boost in confidence, employee coaching can act as oil in getting the parts of the machine operating more effectively.

Problem Snolvig Techniques-using a solutions-focused process, an employee coach can support employees in training the mind to identify solutions as the next step in identifying a problem.  Noticing a problem is great, but it is important for employees to take the initiative to identify and take the necessary steps for a creative and innovative solution.

Attitude Improvement-an employee coach can support an employee by exploring the way they show up at work (and how outside factors may impact the work experience and strategies to manage outside influences) to ensure it is reflective of who they desire to be as an employee.  Many employees are not aware how others experience them in the workplace.  Through exploring mindset, beliefs, and attitudes about the work they do and the people they work with, employees can ensure they are building healthy and authentic relationships at work that allow them to fully engage with the team to drive organizational success.
